Silpada Jewellery Party

This afternoon was spent with friends looking at beautiful sterling silver jewellery.

Winter Painting Club

Painting classes will resume again in March, so Rose, Diane and I are getting together

 each Monday evening to paint together.

Two weeks ago we started this painting.

The top photo is one I took in Ontario and we are using it as our inspiration.

The first week we practised drawing the picture in our sketch book and then transferred it to the canvas.

Last week we started painting. I had watched a video on youtube where the artist painted a barn in a fall setting. He had painted the barn black then covered it with masking tap to allow him to paint the background. So this is what I am trying.

Finished painting........completed Monday, January 28th.
 

Defrosting of Freezer

Today was a great day to defrost the freezer.

As in the past we pick a very cold day, empty the freezer and  put everything out on the deck.

The whole job takes about an hour.....with the help of my handy dandy hair dryer!

I've ordered another basket and the closest place of delivery is Moncton........Sears has gone from

 22 parts and service centers to 6-across the country!

Needless to say I opted to pay a little extra and have it delivered to the house.

Weekend in Grand Falls

 Mary was home from Australia. She had business in Boston and decided she was so close to Mom and Dad that it would be crazy to not come home. She arrived Friday morning and flew back to Boston on Sunday afternoon. I went up Friday morning for the weekend.

There was a fair bit of card playing. Mom and I introduced Mary to the board game, SEQUENCE.

She liked it so much, Jeff went out and ordered a game for them.

Mom and I are trying to decide our next move.

 

For a first time player Mary won the majority of games.

 

Mom eventually won one.....

 

  ......as did I.

Considering that Mary was arriving her in the dead (our first night was -29), and she was leaving Australia in the dead of summer (temp. was +40), she did find it a tad cold!

We ate well all weekend, ham, beef stew, homemade biscuits....

.......homemade fudge, lots of sweets. I'm sure we returned home weighing a bit more.

 

Mary wasn't home long and she needed a Tim's. You can see the cup hiding behind the book.

We had a short visit but a great weekend.

My hobby has become someone elses treasure

For those of you who follow my blog and live local, you know that I enter photos into a photo contest in our local paper.

Earlier this month I received an email from the editor of the paper stating that he had received a phone call from a lady interested in one of the photos I had submitted to the paper.

This past week I sold, for the first time, one of my photographs.

I was very flattered that someone would want to have one of my pictures to display in their home!



Weekend Visitors

Emma and Charles spent last weekend with us and Charles had play time in the snow.

What to Buy?

Today we have continued the purging.
Tackled drawers today and consolidated all the canadian tire money.
Just under $30.00.
The top 4 bills have a tire man on them. Paul wondered if they are a special edition ????
