Bald Eagles

A few weeks back I had read in our local paper that there were bald eagles at our local land fill site. Today, Paul had to do the garbage run, so I tagged along.....with camera in tow. Above is an adult eagle but it was quite a distance away.
This is a juvenile eagle. It doesn't yet have its white head and tail.......it looks rather dirty.
I would have tried to get closer to the birds, but we were approached by one of the workers and told we had to have permission to be there and take pictures.......I'll look into it furthur next week.

That's pretty stupid. Don't you own part of that landfill as a tax-paying citizen? You just wanted photos of the birds - sheesh! What did they think you were? Some sort of landfill investigative journalist? What are they trying to hide?

That's my blog rant for today :)

hahahaha you should call and give them a piece of your mind!

I think they're hiding something...something smells fishy...something really stinks around here but I can't put my finger on it...

ps: in grade 5 my class walked on a field trip to the old dump up highland road...where we spent the day combing through piles of garbage in between the fires looking for interesting things. We came home reeking of burnt garbage. True story.

I did find an old board game though!

Adele...what class in school could possibly take you to the dump on a field trip? Natalie someone at work made the very suggetion of, as you put it, "landfill investigative journalist"....all I wanted was a few pictures of the birds :-(

Hey Adele - remember the dump horses?

I think you should e-mail the general manager - quote my rant if you like - you should be able to sniff around there all you like, pardon the punn - you're paying for it afterall.

I am really starting to sound like an Albertan... kind of scary... !

Talked to the administration at the land fill and I was told it is no problem to take pictures. They apologized for their employee and simply asked that I call ahead and let them know I was coming....they will clear it with their staff to avoid problems.
