Sunday at Crystal Lake

Sunday we spent at Crystal Lake with Emma, Jack and his family. It was our first visit. Emma has been in all weekend....it's "liming weekend". Each year some of the owners of the camps get together and have a load of lime delivered. On the Saturday they take it out in buckets in the boats and put the lime in the lake. It was very acidic when they moved in some 10 years ago and the first year they put 90 ton of lime in to balance the ph of the lake. Now they simply maintain it with a much smaller yearly application.

We drove up to Claredon and Jack, his Dad and Emma met us and we then took a logging road in. It's about 12 km. into the closest side of the lake. We then crossed over by boat. If we had drove completely arond the lake to Jacks camp it would have been another 12 km. but the roads are not very good.

The camp.

The outdoor shower.

A relative to Longwoods tree.

Paul in the hammock.

A view from the camp to the lake.

They have an ice house and Jack retrieved a block while we were there. Every winter a group of them get together and put approx. 150 blocks in the ice house.

Kim seeing us off as we crossed the lake to our truck.

Making the crossing to the other side of the lake. It's about 1.5 miles across.

Yes Adele, we might have to look at getting one for here. We have the perfect spot for it.

Ah, NB lakes, how were the mosquitoes?

Rod and I are heading to Ontario for our annual cottage weekend in Ont. Cottage Country around Aug. 21. My bff Meghan's family has a gorgeous cottage there (with a big motor boat and an bunk house on property etc....) Really it's like one of those cottages you see in H&G magazine! Should be fun!

No mosquitoes, there was a warm wind all day. Yes, I remember pictures that were on your blog last year from your weekend at the cottage. Looks like a great place. Have fun!!!
