Spring is here and we are getting ready for Winter

From this......

....to this.

This week over a couple of evenings, Paul and I have been piling wood.....getting ready for the coming winter. Every year we wait until the middle of July to get the wood and then we end up piling in the heat of summer (mind you we would work for awhile and then go for a swim). This year we ordered it early, much nicer weather to work in. We have one more load to be delivered....next week.

Last weekend we got a load of compost from the landfill site and top dressed all the flower beds, edged some beds and mowed the lawn for the second time. We are ahead of last year by at least 2-3 weeks.

Remember when your head connected with a piece of wood back home?

Oh my goodness - that is one yearly event I don't miss a bit. I remember stacking wood when I was only big enough to carry one half of a split piece. Nothing like stacking chopped dry wood to make you hate spiders! =)

Makes for warm cosy winters though!
