Overnight Trip

Paul had an appointment in Halifax on Thursday, so I took Thursday and Friday off and we made a trip of it. On our way back we travelled along the Minas Basin Coast fron Halifax to Truro and came across an area called Walton. It use to mine gypsum. Above I am looking out towards Parrsboro from Walton; this was the entrance for the ships to come in to load gypsum.

Along the trail we encountered a groundhog!

No one to take a picture so we used our remote control that came with the camera.....handy!

Where did all the ships go?????? (notice they all seem to be looking in the same direction)

New addition to Toner family

On September 24th at 1604hr
"Lucy Helena Andrews"
was born giving us our first great niece.
Proud Dad is Ben, Alans son-in-law.

She weighed in at 8lbs. 6ozs.

Proud Mom, Katie.

Andrea flew up the next day to spend some time with the new parents.

Our Saturday

Today Paul and I drove to Fredericton. The girls had a field hockey tournament; UNB , SMU, Acadia, Dalhousie, PEI. The girls played at 1300hr (which we watched...the score was 1-0 for Dalhousie) and they palyed again at 1500hr against Acadia. We stayed for a few minutes while Brenna was on the field playing defense. Emma is still goalie. It has been a miserable day.....rain, rain and more rain...and I never thought I would be out in the weather again watching sports that my girls play but like a good mother there I was. We were wet, cold, shivering and after we left at 1530hr the girls would be heading home at around 1600hr for a warm shower and warm food. The cololrs were beautiful for the drive up and back...even more spectacular than last week when I drove back from Grand Falls. I will be heading back to Grand Falls in the morning to spend the week. Margie departs tomorrow. Tonight Paul and I are going to a "BlueMan" concert at Harbour Station. The girls and Jack are going in Fredericton tomorrow evening.

Fall in the Maritimes

There are sure signs of fall in the air: the smells, the crispness in the air, the colors (trees, flowers) and there certainly is less light in the evening.
Above are fall mums.

End of another pool season

Pool drained

Our new leaf net. We have always completely covered the pool for the winter but this year we are going to try a leaf net.

Paul preparing the net. He looks like a fisherman dealing with his net :-)

Net on pool.

Close up of net.

This morning Paul and I slept in for the first time since my parents accident. It was a much needed rest. We had a leisure breakfast and then started to close the pool around 11:00 and finished up at around 3:30. We have it down to a science and it was ncie, considering the events of the last two weeks, to be outside and enjoying the day. We are curious to see how this leaf net works.
