David Copperfield at Harbour Station
Paul and I went to the show last night and this is one of the tricks he did. We have followed his shows on TV and it was great to see him in person. It was a very entertaining show.

Fall Colors
The very back of the property.
Paul and I spent the afternnon outside; he put the deck furniture away, cleaned up the garage and baby barn and put the winter tires on the truck. I worked at cutting back some of the dead perennials and planted some tulips. Before going in to make supper I walked around the yard and took some pictures.

Thanksgiving Monday
It was another beautiful day. We had a high of 10 degrees. Paul and I mowed the lawn after lunch but we had to wear gloves, it was on the cool side. This could possibly be the last mow of the season.
We took Brenna back late afternoon, with lots of food and goodies in tow.
Supper was the wonderful spread of leftovers; turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, squash, potatoes, etc. with lemon pie as the finishing touch.
It was a great day and for the girls mid terms are just around the corner.
Thanksgiving Sunday
We woke to a beautiful morning. It was on the cool side and we had frost overnight.....actually I think it was the first for this year. The girls spent part of the day doing school stuff, Paul and I went for a walk down to the post office and back.....I should have wore gloves, IT WAS COLD. Our friend and neighbor, Gerry, was out mowing his lawn, so we stopped and talked for a bit. Dark clouds started to roll in on our way back from our walk and by supper time we had a short heavy rain with thunder.
We had our thanksgiving supper today, we have to take Brenna back to university on Monday. This year we set one less plate at the table (Jack is in Windsor). I must say it was quite tasty and with an environmental touch, everything except the turkey was local....our carbon footprint was small. Brenna being the environmentalist was pleased. Hope everyone had a good day....HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend
Saturday started at 0700hr. I went for my walk and then Paul and I went to get groceries. I wanted to beat the Thanksgiving weekend crowd. We then all left for town and did some shopping (Brenna came home Friday evening). It wasn't very productive.....Brenna was looking for shoes and a winter caot but nothing caught her eye. In the afternoon we made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies....at Brenna's request. Brenna was then off to Vitos for supper with some of her friends. Emma had a friend of her and Jacks over for the evening. He had supper with us (Dianes corn chowder) and then they carved a pumpkin in Jacks name....a Jack-o-lantern :-).
Earlier in the afternnon, Emma had made dough for a dutch pastry called Krakelingen. After the pumpkin carving, Nathan and Emma made this pastry. I found out that Nathan is second generation dutch, his grandmother is from Holland. When Paul tasted the finished product it brought back memories of his visit to Holland and sitting around eating dutch sweets and drinking strong coffee.
Despite the rather unsettled weather, we had a great day.....its wonderful having the girls home.

Road Trip
Today, Paul and I met Mom and Dad in Fredericton for his follow-up appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon. We met them at Kings Landing and had lunch before coming into Fredericton. The surgeon was very pleased with his progress and said to keep doing whatever it is he's doing. We then went over to Sears and Mom did some clothes shopping. I think she was quite successful with the little time she had. We then returned to Kings Landing to pick up our car and they were on the road back home by 2:15pm. At this time it was raining quite hard, but Dad said that by the time they got to Woodstock it was only sprinkling and once home they had little or no rain.
Paul and I had a really wet drive home. We returned through Gagetown and despite the weather the colors up to Gagetown were spectacular. We are not quite at our peak here. The side trip into Gagetown was to pick up the above crock pot I had ordered back in September. It matches the rest of my kitchen pottery. Now I have to learn to make beans like Nanny did and like Mom does. Mom said it will take awhile to achieve their success......I have no doubt about that :-)
