Saturday started at 0700hr. I went for my walk and then Paul and I went to get groceries. I wanted to beat the Thanksgiving weekend crowd. We then all left for town and did some shopping (Brenna came home Friday evening). It wasn't very productive.....Brenna was looking for shoes and a winter caot but nothing caught her eye. In the afternoon we made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies....at Brenna's request. Brenna was then off to Vitos for supper with some of her friends. Emma had a friend of her and Jacks over for the evening. He had supper with us (Dianes corn chowder) and then they carved a pumpkin in Jacks name....a Jack-o-lantern :-).
Earlier in the afternnon, Emma had made dough for a dutch pastry called Krakelingen. After the pumpkin carving, Nathan and Emma made this pastry. I found out that Nathan is second generation dutch, his grandmother is from Holland. When Paul tasted the finished product it brought back memories of his visit to Holland and sitting around eating dutch sweets and drinking strong coffee.
Despite the rather unsettled weather, we had a great day.....its wonderful having the girls home.
